Health and Wellness Center 

YWCA seeks to improve the lives of women and girls by providing high-quality health and wellness programs that are too often not available to disadvantaged and marginalized communities of color. Programs and services are designed to address health inequities and members are able to customize fitness options that work for each individual’s lifestyle and fitness goals.

YWCA Central Massachusetts’s Health and Wellness Center provides members with positive wellness services that are consistent with YWCA’s core beliefs. Our full-service facility provides a fitness center equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, stair climbers, rowing machines, weight-training machines, free weights, and more; personalized and group fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates, Zumba, cross-training, kettlebells, and more; a 5-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool; locker rooms; steam room; a family changing area; and free parking in a central downtown location.

COVID-19 Protocol:

Beginning August 31th, Members need to reserve time in the Fitness Center by calling our Front Desk at 508-767-2505.

As of Monday, March 8, 2021, we will no longer be staffing the Front Desk with Wellness and Health Equity staff.

Reservations will need to be made a day in advance by either calling 508-767-2505 X 3024 or by visiting the Strength and Cardio Room to schedule an appointment.

Temperatures will be taken and recorded at the Strength and Cardio Room and Pool when you enter.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause and we look forward to working with you to schedule your time with us at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts.

Strength, Cardio and Gym Room Hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (for members over the age of 60 only), 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m., 4:00 pm-7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. (for members over the age of 60 only)
  • Sunday: Closed

Pool Area Hours:

  • Monday- Friday: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Special Notes:

  • Pool:  The Pool is currently closed. We anticipate reopening the pool on October 1st
  • Fitness Classes:  Please check back for an updated Fitness Class Schedule
  • Basketball Court: The Basketball court is currently unavailable

  • Christmas Day

Look for postings throughout the facility for schedule changes.

“Special Schedules” are posted occasionally due to other holidays or YWCA events.

Fitness Center Policies:

Access Cards:

Access cards are given to all fitness plan members and provide access to the Health and Wellness Center. Fitness plan members must carry their access cards with them at all times. There is a $5.00 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards.

Guest Policy:

All guest and drop-in users must present a valid photo ID upon check-in at the front desk. Members must accompany guest at all times. All facility rules and member policies apply to guest as well. There is a two guest limit for members per visit.

Lockers & Locker Room Policy:

Lockers are available for day use by Health & Wellness Center participants. Members must provide their own lock. YWCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property. A limited number of short lockers are available for rental. To apply, contact the Front Desk at 508-767-2505. In addition to the adult locker rooms, there are two private family changing rooms available for all to use. Children six years and older must use the appropriate gender adult locker room or the family changing area. Children under 16 years of age are prohibited from using the steam room.


The YWCA parking lot is available for member parking only while visiting the Health and Wellness Center or attending a class in the building. Due to a limited number of spaces, the YWCA does not guarantee the availability of parking. If the lot is full, try the municipal lot next to the Library. Cars parked in other YWCA areas may be towed.

Pool Rules:

For the health and safety of all pool users, please follow pool rules when in the pool area. All users must:

  • Take a shower before entering the pool
  • Wear a swimsuit and bathing cap
  • Obey the lifeguard
  • Walk—do not run in the pool area

An adult must accompany youth under 13 years to the pool area. Youth under 6 must be accompanied into the pool. Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper with tight-fitting legs and waistband.

Refund Policy:

If YWCA cancels a class due to low enrollment you will be notified and given the option of a credit towards another activity or a refund. The YWCA membership fee is refundable only when purchased in conjunction with a class that is cancelled.

Youth Limitations:

All children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older) at all times, unless the child is actively participating in a supervised YWCA youth program or class. Inappropriate behavior can lead to suspension of privileges. For the safety of our members, children are not allowed to attend any class in which they are not a participant.

  • Child age 5 and under: FREE
  • Youth  age 6-17:  $6.00
  • Adult  18 -59:  $12.00
  • Senior  60 and up:  $8.00
  • Items for Sale:

YWCA bathing caps, goggles, nose clips, etc. are available for purchase at the Front Desk. All sales are final.
