JUNETEENTH HOLIDAY FOR YWCA EMPLOYEES

YWCA Central Massachusetts is set to observe the Juneteenth holiday for the first time in the organization’s 134-year history.

With their mission in mind, Executive Director, Linda Cavaioli, announced, “On Friday, the YWCA joins in acknowledging and commemorating Juneteenth. In doing this, we’re helping with the mission to promote, cultivate knowledge, and appreciation of Black American/African American history of freedom and achievement, and culture.”

YW employees are encouraged to use this holiday as an opportunity to learn more about the history of Juneteenth and ways to continue the YWCA’s work in addressing and dismantling on ongoing structural and institutional racism.

As it takes on a more national, symbolic, and even global perspective, today, the events of 1865 in Texas are not forgotten.

YWCA Central Massachusetts challenges the Worcester business community to follow suit and to join in our mission and the fight against racial injustice.
