Dr. Nsiah-Jefferson will address the maternal health crisis affecting women of color, particularly Black women in her talk titled Birth Injustice: Confronting the Challenge Through Innovative and Transformative Strategies.
Through her keynote, Dr. Nsiah-Jefferson will highlight the role and legacy of structural and institutional racism and discrimination, that have historically resulted in a lack of use, and access to high-quality health and maternity care for women of color. She will also highlight the role of other social and political factors that facilitate inequities in maternal care and outcomes.
“Our mission is to eliminate racism and empower women and families. So today, we are calling on our leaders, organizations, businesses, and individuals in central Massachusetts to join us by rallying to make change for communities of color and demand justice and equity in our community.” – YWCA Central Massachusetts CEO, Deb Hall.
Working towards true racial justice takes all of us. Join us in advancing justice today and every day — until justice just is.
